AUSTIN – Texas Trucking Association (TXTA) today released the following statement on the passage of the Committee Substitute for SB 207 by Senator Charles Schwertner:

“Inflated medical bills are a very real problem in Texas and a problem that often times is the result of some doctors and lawyers working together to charge exorbitant amounts that are 10-20 times what the medical provider actually gets paid for services,” said TXTA President & CEO John D. Esparza. “These opportunistic plaintiff lawyers and unscrupulous medical providers must be stopped. We must ensure medical expenses are not inflated and Texans who are injured receive trustworthy medical care and legal advice. We applaud the Texas Senate State Affairs Committee for voting this bill out of committee and call on the Texas Senate to bring the bill to a floor vote quickly.”
