AUSTIN— Today, Texas Trucking Association President and CEO John D. Esparza released the following statement regarding the passage of Senate Bill 39 by the Texas Senate.

"The passage of SB 39 in the Texas Senate marks a significant step forward in protecting the integrity of our legal system and Texas trucking industry. This bill introduces much-needed reforms to how commercial motor vehicle collision cases are handled in Texas courts. These reforms will establish fair, consistent, and statewide standards, helping to ensure that justice is applied equally across the state.

SB 39 will help restore balance and fairness to our legal system, offering relief from abusive litigation practices and allowing trucking companies to focus on what they do best: keeping Texas moving. We are especially grateful for the leadership of Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick and Senator Brian Birdwell for championing this much-needed reform. Their commitment to Texas businesses and the vital role trucking plays in our state’s economy is deeply appreciated. TXTA now urges the Texas House to continue this momentum and support SB 39 as it moves forward."
