AUSTIN, TX— The Texas Trucking Association (TXTA) congratulates Aurora Innovation, the autonomous trucking company, on the commercial launch of their self-driving Class 8 trucks. As TXTA works to strengthen the Texas supply chain, Aurora’s strong safety focus and deep understanding of the needs of the logistics industry present tremendous promise.

“From my first ride in an Aurora autonomous truck, I knew this company would change the world – and the way the freight industry looks at safety. With the launch of their self-driving trucks on public roads, Aurora has shown that autonomy can bring safety, efficiency, and reliability benefits to our supply chain,” said TXTA President and CEO John D. Esparza.

TXTA has worked closely with Aurora to help ensure their technology benefits the logistics industry and American economy. U.S. Department of Transportation research shows autonomous trucking can create 26,400 to 35,100 jobs per year without significant impacts on today’s professional truck drivers. Some of these jobs have already been created at Aurora’s commercial terminals here in Texas, where team members with logistics expertise help support the growth of the trucking industry.

TXTA is a trade organization dedicated to enhancing the effectiveness of its members by advocating sound public policies, providing excellence in education, training, and information, and promoting a safe, dependable, and cost-effective motor transportation system to better serve the people of Texas.
