AUSTIN – Texas Trucking Association (TXTA) today issued the following statement regarding Governor Greg Abbott’s 2021 State of the State Address:

“Texas Trucking Association applauds Governor Abbott for identifying the need for COVID-19 liability protections during the State of the State address last night. Abusive lawsuits are plaguing the trucking industry and the threat of additional abusive lawsuits could very well drive Texas trucking companies out of business. We thank Governor Abbott for bringing this issue to the forefront of the legislative session at a time when our professional drivers are going above and beyond for our citizens during the pandemic. Without these Texas businesses and the professional drivers that travel the state daily, the supply chain would quickly break down and the impacts would be felt far beyond the trucking community. We support Governor Abbott’s call to action to protect these businesses and encourage the legislature to follow his lead."
